First, Next, Last

When we tell a story back, order matters. Three helper words keep things tidy: first, next and last.

Listen: 'First, Ava put on her boots. Next, she jumped in a puddle. Last, she laughed and went inside to dry off.

' If we mixed them up, Ava would jump in a puddle before her boots were on! Helper words keep the story straight.

• 1First tells what happens at the start
• 2Next tells what comes after
• 3Last tells the final thing
