Wetlands like marshes and swamps filter water, prevent flooding, and provide habitat for many species. They are among the most productive ecosystems on Earth.

Materials Needed

- Wash your hands thoroughly afterwards and keep the material away from your face.
- Mop up spills straight away so nobody slips, and keep liquids away from sockets.
- Check glassware for chips before use and carry it with both hands.
Steps
Look at the vocabulary words and write a definition for each in your own words.
Build a model ecosystem in a jar using soil, small plants, and water. Seal it and observe how the water cycle works inside it for one week.
Use your senses (except taste) to describe what you notice.
Write a summary of your findings in 3-5 sentences.
