Electromagnets are temporary magnets created by running electricity through a coiled wire. They can be turned on and off and are used in motors, speakers, and MRI machines.

- Use a low-voltage battery or supply only — never mains electricity.
Steps
Look at the vocabulary words and write a definition for each in your own words.
Build an electromagnet by wrapping insulated wire around a nail and connecting it to a battery. Test how many paper clips it can pick up. Try adding more wire coils.
Compare the before and after states.
Write your conclusion: did the results match your hypothesis? What would you change next time?
