Jamestown: Virginia's First Colony

Jamestown, founded in 1607, was the first permanent English settlement in North America, located in what is now Virginia. The settlers faced many challenges, including harsh weather, food shortages, and conflicts with Native Americans.

Despite these difficulties, they learned to grow tobacco, which became a valuable crop and helped the colony survive. Jamestown was an important step in establishing English colonies in America.
