The Space Race

The Space Race was a competition between the United States and the Soviet Union to achieve significant milestones in space exploration. It began in the late 1950s and included important events like the launch of the first satellite, Sputnik, by the Soviet Union in 1957 and the first human, Yuri Gagarin, to orbit the Earth in 1961.

The Space Race inspired many technological advancements and led to the historic Apollo 11 mission, where humans first walked on the moon in 1969.
