The Pledge of Allegiance

The Pledge of Allegiance is a promise of loyalty to the United States and its values. Recited in schools and at public events, it reminds citizens of the importance of unity, justice, and freedom.

The Pledge was first written in 1892 by Francis Bellamy and has become a tradition in American culture. By standing and pledging allegiance, individuals affirm their commitment to uphold the ideals of democracy and respect for one another.
