The Confederate States of America

The Confederate States of America (CSA) were formed in 1861 when 11 Southern states seceded from the Union. These states included South Carolina, Mississippi, and Texas, among others. The Confederacy was created to preserve their way of life, which heavily relied on agriculture and slavery.

Jefferson Davis was elected as the president of the CSA, highlighting the Confederacy's attempt to establish its own government and identity separate from the United States.
