The Pony Express

The Pony Express was a mail service that operated from 1860 to 1861, connecting the eastern United States with California. Riders would travel on horseback across challenging terrain, covering approximately 1,900 miles in just ten days.

This service was crucial during a time when communication was slow and often unreliable. Although it was short-lived due to the advent of the telegraph, the Pony Express demonstrated the determination and resourcefulness of those who sought to improve communication across the expanding nation.
