The Pony Express

The Pony Express was a mail service that operated in the United States from April 1860 to October 1861, providing a fast means of communication across the vast western territories. Riders traveled over 1,900 miles from Missouri to California, carrying important letters and documents.

They used specially trained horses and relay stations every 10 to 15 miles, allowing them to change horses quickly and maintain a rapid pace. Although it lasted only 18 months, the Pony Express played a crucial role in connecting the nation and proved the necessity of faster communication systems.
