The Environmental Movement

The Environmental Movement began to take shape in the mid-20th century as people became increasingly aware of the negative impacts of pollution and environmental degradation. Activists emphasized the importance of protecting natural resources and wildlife.

The publication of Rachel Carson's book 'Silent Spring' in 1962 played a crucial role in raising awareness about the dangers of pesticides and their impact on ecosystems. This movement led to significant policy changes, including the establishment of Earth Day and the creation of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in 1970.
