The Haitian Revolution

The Haitian Revolution, which began in 1791, was a pivotal event that marked the first successful slave uprising in history. Enslaved Africans in Saint-Domingue (now Haiti) fought against French colonial rule, seeking freedom and equality.

Led by leaders such as Toussaint L'Ouverture, the revolution resulted in the establishment of Haiti as the first independent black republic in 1804, inspiring other nations to pursue their own liberation.
