Referendums and Ballot Measures

Referendums and ballot measures are critical tools in the democratic process, allowing citizens to directly influence legislation and public policy. A referendum typically involves a direct vote on a specific proposal, often concerning constitutional amendments or significant policy changes.

Ballot measures, on the other hand, can include a range of issues, from tax increases to social policy initiatives, and are placed on the ballot for public vote during elections. Both mechanisms serve to enhance civic engagement, as they empower voters to make decisions on matters that directly affect their lives.
