The Role of Journalists

Journalists play an essential role in a democratic society by investigating and reporting on events that shape public discourse. They are responsible for gathering information, verifying facts, and presenting news stories in a manner that informs the public and holds power to account.

By providing a platform for diverse voices and perspectives, journalists contribute to a well-informed citizenry, which is crucial for the functioning of democracy. In recent years, the evolution of social media has transformed how journalists operate, allowing for instant communication but also posing challenges regarding the accuracy and credibility of information.
