What comes after Mystery Science?

The next step for Grade 6 and up.

Last updated: 11 October 2026

The short answer

Mystery Science teaches science from Kindergarten to Grade 5, so it stops when a child starts 6th grade. The next step is middle-school science: forces and energy, cells and body systems, Earth and space, with more reading and recording of results. LittleActivity's science continues free from Grade 6 to Grade 10, with no account and no ads.

What Mystery Science covers

Mystery Science is a Kindergarten to Grade 5 science curriculum. Each lesson starts from a question a child might ask, plays short narrated video segments with discussion pauses, then runs a hands-on investigation with printable handouts.

What your child is ready for next

  • Science topics in more depth: cells, body systems, energy, forces, Earth and space.
  • Recording observations and results in writing, not only discussing them.
  • Connecting science to the maths they now know: graphs, measurement and units.
  • Some independent work, without a teacher or video leading every step.

Where to go on LittleActivity

LittleActivity is free to use with no account and no ads, and it runs from Pre-K to Grade 10, so the next step does not run out after one more year. There are 375 games for Grade 6 and up alone, counted from the catalogue itself.

What Mystery Science did well

  • Every lesson starts from a real question a child would ask, which makes children want the answer.
  • Hands-on investigations that work with cheap, everyday materials.
  • Open-and-go lessons that a teacher or parent with no science background can run with little preparation.
  • Careful lesson design. Our own science lessons are not built like theirs, and we say so on our comparison page.

Where we fall short: LittleActivity's science is activity- and printable-led. It does not have Mystery Science's narrated video lessons.

After Mystery Science: common questions

What grades does Mystery Science cover?

Mystery Science covers Kindergarten to Grade 5. It has no lessons for Grade 6 or above, so families and schools need a different science resource for middle school.

Is there free middle-school science after Mystery Science?

LittleActivity has free science for Grade 6, Grade 7 and Grade 8, and continues to Grade 10, with games, lessons and printable worksheets and no account needed. It is less video-led than Mystery Science and asks the child to do more of the work themselves.

Can I keep the hands-on approach after Grade 5?

Yes. Pair middle-school science lessons with simple investigations at home and have your child record results on paper. LittleActivity's printable science sheets and off-screen school days are built for that kind of written, hands-on follow-up.
