🐒 Monkey Mayhem — a free maths game for kids

Twenty monkeys loose in the amusement park. Find them, count what is missing, load the ride cars.

Subtraction as 'how many more to make ten' is one of the hardest ideas to make concrete, and a headcount of missing monkeys does it neatly. Grouping them into ride cars then introduces division as a physical arrangement before it becomes a symbol.

How to play

  1. 1Monkeys hide across the fairground — tap each one you spot.
  2. 2The park keeper asks how many are still missing. Work it out from the count.
  3. 3Rides only take equal groups, so loading them is division.
  4. 4Every monkey found gets a collectible card with a name and an outfit.

Frequently asked questions

What ages is Monkey Mayhem for?
Pre-K to Grade 5. Young children count and find; older bands get grouping, remainders and fractions of the troop.
Are the monkeys the same every time?
Their hiding places change every round, and the collection of monkey cards is kept on the device so children can complete the set.
What is the maths in the rides?
Rides seat equal groups — twelve monkeys in cars of four is division, and awkward numbers introduce remainders.
Is it free?
Yes, free with no signup.
