Half of 43
Half of 43 is 21½

43 is an odd number, so it does not split into two equal whole groups — 21½ means 21 and a half.
How to find half of 43
- 1Half means splitting 43 into 2 equal groups, so work out 43 ÷ 2.
- 243 is an odd number, so it will not split into two equal whole groups — one group always ends up with one more.
- 3Put 21 in each group and there is 1 left over. Split that last one in half too.
- 4So half of 43 is 21½ — 21 and a half. The even numbers either side, 42 and 44, halve to 21 and 22.
