How to find half of 55
- 1Half means splitting 55 into 2 equal groups, so work out 55 ÷ 2.
- 255 is an odd number, so it will not split into two equal whole groups — one group always ends up with one more.
- 3Put 27 in each group and there is 1 left over. Split that last one in half too.
- 4So half of 55 is 27½ — 27 and a half. The even numbers either side, 54 and 56, halve to 27 and 28.
