Reading With Feeling

Use your voice to show how characters feel.

Expression means letting your voice show feelings. A sad part can sound slow and quiet. A happy part can sound bright and quick. A scary part might be hushed. Read: 'Tom looked everywhere, but his toy bear was gone.

' This is sad, so slow down and soften your voice. Now read: 'Then he found it under his pillow! ' Tom is happy now, so lift your voice.

To find the feeling, look at the pictures, the words like 'gone' or 'found,' and the marks at the ends of sentences.
