Our solar system has eight planets. They all orbit the sun. The sun is a star. It is in the center. The four planets closest to the sun are Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars. They are made mostly of rock. They are smaller. The four outer planets are much larger. They are Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. They are made mostly of gas. Earth is the only planet we know that has life. We have air and water. We need to take care of Earth. Scientists study the other planets. They send rockets to learn more. Maybe one day people will visit Mars. The solar system is full of wonder.
