The Secret Path

Emma had always wondered what was at the end of the old path behind her house. One Saturday morning she decided to find out. She packed a small bag with water and a snack. She told her mom she was going for a walk. The path was narrow and covered with leaves. Emma walked carefully. Suddenly she heard a rustling sound. She stopped. A rabbit hopped across the path. Emma smiled and kept going. The path went uphill. After a while she came to a clearing. In the middle was an enormous oak tree. Its branches spread wide. Emma had never seen a tree so big. She sat under it and had her snack. She felt like she had discovered a secret place. Perhaps she would come back next week. She walked home with a happy heart. She could not wait to tell her brother about the adventure.
