Sofia had to do a project for the science fair. She was nervous. She had never done one before. She decided to find out what makes plants grow best. She planted three seeds. One she gave water and sun. One she gave water but put in a dark closet. One she gave sun but no water. She wrote down what happened every day. After two weeks the results were clear. The plant with water and sun grew the best. The one in the closet was yellow and thin. The one with no water did not grow at all. Sofia made a poster with pictures and words. She explained her experiment. On the day of the fair she set up her display. The judge asked her questions. Sofia answered carefully. She had discovered something important. Plants need both water and light. Perhaps she would do another experiment next year. She felt proud of her work. The adventure of science was fun.
