Possessives show ownership or belonging. They are formed by adding an apostrophe and an 's' to a noun. For example, if you want to say that the book belongs to Sarah, you would write "Sarah's book." If the noun is plural and already ends in 's', you just add an apostrophe after the 's'. For example, "The teachers' lounge" means the lounge belongs to multiple teachers. Using possessives helps us know who owns something, making our sentences clearer and more interesting.
