Rocks and fossils are both important parts of our Earth. Rocks are made up of minerals and come in three main types: igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic. Fossils are the remains or traces of plants and animals that lived a long time ago, often found in sedimentary rocks. For example, if a dinosaur stepped in mud that later dried and turned into rock, we might find footprints as fossils. These fossils help scientists learn about what life was like in the past. By studying rocks and fossils, we can understand Earth's history and how it has changed over millions of years.
