For the science fair I was paired with someone I did not know well. His name was David. I was not sure we would work well together. We had to do a project on the water cycle. We met after school. We made a plan. We divided the work. Gradually we learned to work together. David was good at building things. I was good at writing. We combined our skills. We made a model of the water cycle. We wrote a report. We practiced our presentation. On the day of the fair we did well. The judge asked us questions. We answered together. We had discovered that teamwork can make something better than either could do alone. I had considered asking for a different partner. I was glad I had not. The experience had taught me to be open. The opportunity to work with David had been a gift. We had become friends. We had created something magnificent. I was exhausted after the fair. But I was proud. The science project had been an adventure. I would never forget it.
