I started reading a book series. The first book was long. I had never read a book that long before. I read a little every night. Gradually I got through it. I had discovered that long books are not scary. You just read one page at a time. I loved the story. I wanted to read the next book. I got it from the library. I read it too. Then the next. I had read the whole series. I had never had an experience like that. I had considered quitting after the first chapter. I was glad I had not. The opportunity to get lost in a story had been a gift. The series was magnificent. I told my friends about it. They started reading it too. We talked about the characters. We talked about the ending. I was exhausted sometimes from staying up late to read. But it was worth it. The book series had opened a door. I would read more long books. I would never forget that series.
