The French and Indian War was a conflict between Britain and France that took place in North America from 1754 to 1763. It was part of a larger struggle known as the Seven Years' War. The war began over disputes about land in the Ohio River Valley, where both the British and the French wanted to expand their territories. Native American tribes often joined sides, with some supporting the French and others siding with the British. A famous battle during this war was the Battle of Quebec, where British forces defeated the French in 1759. This victory ultimately led to Britain gaining control over Canada and many other French territories in North America.
