Ecology is the study of how living things interact with each other and with their environment. This includes plants, animals, and even tiny organisms like bacteria. In an ecosystem, which is a community of living things and their physical surroundings, everything is connected. For example, in a forest, trees provide oxygen and shelter for animals. In return, animals help spread seeds and fertilize the soil. These interactions create a balance that supports life. If one part of the ecosystem changes, it can affect everything else. For instance, if a new predator is introduced, it might decrease the population of certain animals, which can lead to an increase in plants those animals used to eat. Understanding ecology helps us protect our environment and maintain healthy ecosystems.
