What Animals Eat

Lab Brief #3

🎯 Your mission

Master the concept. Use it tomorrow.

⚡ The twist

Living things break the rules of non-living things — find the rule they break.

What you'll learn

Some animals eat only plants (herbivores), some eat only meat (carnivores), and some eat both (omnivores). What do you like to eat?

Key words

habitat
The natural home where a plant or animal lives.
offspring
The young ones produced by plants, animals, or people.

Make a hypothesis first

Predict: what will happen to the plant if you change the water?

Say your guess out loud — then find out if you were right.

Step 1 of 4 · Read

Look at the new words. Can you say each one?

Step 2 of 4 · Do

Draw a food chain: start with the sun, then a plant, then an animal that eats it, then a predator.

Step 3 of 4 · Observe

Draw a picture of what you observe.

Step 4 of 4 · Record

Share your results with a partner.
