How to find half of 12
- 1Half means splitting 12 into 2 equal groups, so work out 12 ÷ 2.
- 2Split 12 into its tens and its ones: 10 and 2.
- 3Halve each part on its own — half of 10 is 5, and half of 2 is 1.
- 4Add the two halves back together: 5 + 1 = 6.
Check it: put the two halves back together and you get 6 + 6 = 12.
